Photo Gallery: Title Card Art

The mix of light and color sources you can get from movie title cards makes some kind of weird magic with an HDR filter, and I really like the results. I also really like you paid subscribers, because you paid for a lot of my groceries this month, so thanks for that.

Photo Gallery: Title Card Art

Hello friends! It's been an intense month or so on this blog as well as off of it, and my brain is tired, so we are all going to take a little break today. Essays will be back next week after I've given several ideas some time to cook. This is your official warning to watch LOVE LIES BLEEDING sooner rather than later.

As a treat for paid subscribers, I've uploaded a sneak peak gallery of my favorite recent photo shoot. I've been obsessed with title card art lately, and pretending to be an audience member at a grindhouse theater seemed like a good way to work in the necessity of a chair this time. (Yes, I took these with a broken rib. It is feeling better, thank you.) This was a fun way to play with one of my favorite underrated art forms and sneak in some tributes to stuff, too. The mix of light and color sources you can get from movie title cards makes some kind of weird magic with an HDR filter, and I really like the results.

I also really like you paid subscribers, because you paid for a lot of my groceries this month, so thanks for that. (I really like my free subscribers too, but I am unable to offer you more than words currently.) If you want to see some cool photos I'm working on right now and you can't afford a full-price ticket, whats that over there a coupon code oh my god! Or just be patient, I'll use them eventually.

But don't you deserve a treat today? The subscribers gallery is waiting for you.

(Quick credits! My cool buddy Lillian Boyd picked some of the best title cards here and you should go check out her stuff. Celina Furness helped me stage and take these photographs, and I am grateful for their assistance. As always, Celina remains my rock in this and everything else.)
